Terms and Conditions

• The train runs even if it rains. Trains are only cancelled if conditions are unsafe to passengers and crew.

• Dogs/pets are not permitted to travel on the train.

• Umgeni Steam Railway cannot be held responsible for Personal Passenger Safety. Children are to be under the care of a guardian at all times.

• The trains are not wheel-chair accessible, however, disabled parking and toilets are available at the Inchanga Railway Station.

• Food is not served on the train. Snacks and refreshments are allowed on the train, refreshments bar is also available for sale on the train and at Inchanga Station.

• All correspondence regarding a booking has to include the booking number in the message. This makes finding a booking through hundreds of bookings easier.

• Cancellation or rescheduling of a booking can only considered for a refund if notified before 48hrs of the excursion without exception. No cancelations can be considered, for any reason, leading up to the trip at short notice.

• Should Umgeni Steam Railway need to cancel a train, you will be contacted as soon as possible. Please note that due to the volume of bookings per train, the notice of cancelations will be emailed as this is the quickest means to notify passengers.

• On cancellation of a train, passengers are given a choice for a refund or a voucher for the amount paid to use to rebook for a future train.

• Note: to prevent cancellation of steam train should technical problem arise, a vintage diesel may replace the steam locomotive. An email will notify you of this change.

• Umgeni Steam Railway is an independent Rail Operator not associated with Transnet, TFR, Metro Rail or PRASA.
